Meet Dr. Carney and his team
Dr. Carney grew up in New Hampton, Iowa. Upon high school graduation, he attended the University
of Iowa and graduated with a degree in general science / chemistry. He then went on to attend the
University of Iowa Dental College and graduated in 1977. After graduating from the Dental College,
Dr. Carney served his country in the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Scott A.F. Base,
which is the Military Air Lift Command headquarters base and the regional Medical Center. Dr. Carney
was assigned to the restorative dentistry department and trained under a Board Certified Specialist
in all fields of dentistry.
Dr. Carney established his Clear Lake practice in 1981 specializing in family and cosmetic
dentistry. He is passionate about creating beautiful and healthy smiles for his patients. Over the
years, he has traveled the country and spent many hours in seminars, study clubs, and other continuing
education classes to stay current with all the newest techniques and technology.
Dr. Carney's wife, Kathy, is a Registered Nurse; she specializes in Diabetes Education at Mercy
Medical Center of North Iowa. They have three grown children, Megan, Nathan, and Chris, who all
graduated from the University of Iowa. Megan and her husband, Brian have a daughter named Hannah.
Nathan and his wife, Andrea have a son named Hudson.
Dr. Carney is a member of the American Dental Association, the Iowa Dental Association, the Noon
Lions, and St. Patrick's Catholic Church where he is currently serving as a council member. Over
the years he has contributed countless hours in support of Clear Lake athletic programs. Outside
of the office and his family, Dr. Carney enjoys hunting, golfing, boating, jogging, and lifting
weights.
It takes a combination of education, training, hands-on experience, and deliberate team
effort to create a good dental staff. And while many practices claim to be such a team, we
actually live it out. Each of us is not only individually qualified with a particular set
of essential skills, but we're also dedicated to getting along with each other, and
developing relationships with our patients. In fact, we enjoy having fun while we learn.
