Meet the Doctors
Dr. Patrick CarneyDr. Carney grew up in New Hampton, Iowa. Upon high school graduation, he attended the University of Iowa and graduated with a degree in general science / chemistry. He then went on to attend the University of Iowa Dental College and graduated in 1977. After graduating from the Dental College, Dr. Carney served his country in the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Scott A.F. Base, which is the Military Air Lift Command headquarters base and the regional Medical Center. Dr. Carney was assigned to the restorative dentistry department and trained under a Board Certified Specialist in all fields of dentistry. Dr. Carney established his Clear Lake practice in 1981 specializing in family and cosmetic dentistry. He is passionate about creating beautiful and healthy smiles for his patients. Over the years, he has traveled the country and spent many hours in seminars, study clubs, and other continuing education classes to stay current with all the newest techniques and technology. Currently, Dr. Carney is a member of The North Iowa Study Club and its affiliate, the Seattle Study Club. He has presented complex rehabilitation cases locally and attended the Seattle Study Club Symposium on a national level. Dr. Carney's wife, Kathy, is a Registered Nurse who specializes in Diabetes Education at Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa. They have three grown children, Megan, Nathan, and Chris and many grandchildren. Dr. Carney is a member of the American Dental Association, the Iowa Dental Association, the Noon Lions, and St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Outside of the office and his family, Dr. Carney enjoys hunting, golfing, boating, jogging, and lifting weights. |
Dr. Jacob SorensenDr. Sorensen grew up in Clear Lake, Iowa, graduating from Clear Lake High School in 2001. Upon high school graduation, he attended the University of Iowa and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology. He then attended the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, graduating in June of 2009. While in Dental School, Dr. Sorensen gained extensive pediatric dentistry experience while in rotation at Saint Luke's Dental Health Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Dr. Sorensen was also a recipient of the Dr. D.J. Ock and Joanie Peterson Scholarship, awarded to students for showing compassion towards patients. Throughout Dental School, Dr. Sorensen was involved in "Give Kids a Smile Day", The Christian Dental Association, and was a member of the American Student Dental Association. Dr. Sorensen is currently a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and the Iowa Dental Association, where he serves as the North Central District Editor. He obtained his proficiency in Cerec CAD/CAM restorative dentistry through training with Dr. Steve Dekoster of Hutchinson, MN. He also holds proficiency in Invisalign Orthodontics, where he trained under Dr. Doug Sakurai. Dr. Sorensen is also a member of the North Iowa Dental Seminars Study Club, which focuses on collaborative treatment planning and comprehensive dental care. He is also involved with the Mason City Free Clinic, where he volunteers to help the underserved population of North Iowa. Dr. Sorensen is also a recipient of the Delta Dental of Iowa Loan Repayment award, a highly competitive award given to dentists that provide dental care for underserved populations. Dr. Sorensen's wife Nichole, who is also a Clear Lake native, and their son, Jude, enjoy spending time with family and friends and their golden retriever, Annie. They are both avid Iowa Hawkeye, Minnesota Twins, and Clear Lake Lions fans and enjoy attending sporting events to support the teams. They are both active in the Clear Lake Zion Lutheran Church's Student Impact, where they serve as adult and small group leaders. Dr. Sorensen is also involved with Clear Lake High School Baseball as a volunteer coach and also helps with the annual spring baseball youth clinic.
